As many of you know, I’m a member of the Visual Art League of Lewisville. When I joined roughly 3 years ago I was a complete stranger yet I was quickly welcomed into the group. It took me decades to finally find “my people.”
Diane Wright, the President at the time, quickly recruited me to volunteer. Jerry McKay (JAM), the treasurer and part of the welcome wagon, explained the process of submitting art. Fresh Ideas 2023 is a juried event through the Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL). It is the only event that accepts submissions from members AND non-members. There is no guarantee that you’ll get in as a member. Every year the number of submissions increases – this year there were over 300 submissions and about 20% made the cut.
