Written by Finnegan for a class assignment at the Reform School for Creepy Dolls
Mom normally takes my older brother, Percival on grand adventures. But this time she told me to gather my things for an adventure. She even let me pick which town we’d visit. What I didn’t know, it would turn in to HOMEWORK. This is my report on my adventure in Pilot Point, Texas. I hope you enjoy. Love, Finn. Continue reading Finnegan visits Pilot Point, Texas!
I was encouraged to submit additional art pieces in the “Self Portrait” exhibit at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville. It took me awhile to come up with my first submission, “Iterations”. Coming up with additional pieces seemed daunting. But I have a saying: if you’re handed a piece of meat are you going to cook it? Translation: if you’re given an opportunity are you going to take advantage of it or let it go to waste? I’m not only going to cook it, I’ll make multiple meals out of it! Visit the blog to see my additional submissions. Continue reading Additional photos by Denise Holguin on exhibit at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville!
Tore and I picked a direction and started driving. Before long we were in downtown Dallas, visiting our favorite haunt: The Adolphus Hotel!
Neither of us were dressed for the occasion but that didn’t stop us. It is our home away from home and The Adolphus is always welcoming. Continue reading Christmas Day at The Adolphus Hotel
I don’t typically put up a Christmas tree but 2020 is different. I even splurged and purchased a pink tree because unconventional is fun. Continue reading COVID Christmas Tree
– The fanciful story of Betty Bluetiful –
Before Betty started her sales career, she was Elizabeth Florence of Bluemington. She lived a content life but at the age of 40, she wanted a career change. In 1956 she responded to an advertisement offering the chance to travel, meet new people and the opportunity to spread a good clean message (ever dear to her heart). She signed on as a door-to-door saleswoman, selling Mrs. Stewart’s Liquid Bluing. Continue reading Betty Bluetiful of Mrs. Stewart’s Liquid Bluing
We were feeling a bit stir crazy so we decided to take Percival to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge for an Easter egg hunt. Continue reading COVID-19 Easter

I’d liken this post to the finale in a 4th of July fireworks celebration. The best is saved for last, with a battery of colorful fireworks in the night sky. But even as you’re mesmerized by the profusion of color, … Continue reading The Adolphus Hotel – Finale Post
Cleaning my office was like an archeological dig. I uncovered layers that represented different positions and responsibilities I’ve had over the years. I took the opportunity to purge most everything that wasn’t necessary. But before I did I took photos. … Continue reading Last day at the office. Part 3
Most people don’t realize this, but I ‘celebrate’ Christmas twice a year: in August and in December. Working for a craft/hobby magazine, the Christmas issue is planned well in advance and is photographed in the summer. It’s always strange to have Christmas trees up in the middle of summer. Weather during this time of year is usually 100 degrees. Not exactly Christmas weather! While I can’t show you any sneak peeks at the projects our photographer shot, I can show you a few behind the scenes shenanigans I shot. Enjoy. You might think it’s odd to take a ventriloquist’s … Continue reading Christmas in August
I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day than taking Percival Sunshine out on a school field trip. Here he is at a playground. Just look at his excitement on the slide! He didn’t even react when a … Continue reading Creepy Doll Field Trip
Now that Percival Sunshine is enrolled in Creepy Doll Reform School, he is learning how to assimilate properly into society. His first class project was to create and deliver Valentine’s Day cards to his friends. He worked with his friend, … Continue reading Cookie Delivery and a Valentine’s Day Card
I spotted him at my favorite antique store in Dallas. But my friend strongly advised against purchasing the doll. In fact, very few friends and strangers supported me. An informal poll I ran that day produced the following results: 15 … Continue reading Percival Sunshine!
