Tore Bellis and I were scouting our next photo shoot location for an upcoming project. We ended up on this narrow paved road near the border of Oklahoma and Texas.
We passed mattresses which made me think of bed bugs. We passed piles of tires. Then we passed this recliner that had to be photographed for my ongoing Chair series. Continue reading Gently Used Furniture & Keystone Beer
I was encouraged to submit additional art pieces in the “Self Portrait” exhibit at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville. It took me awhile to come up with my first submission, “Iterations”. Coming up with additional pieces seemed daunting. But I have a saying: if you’re handed a piece of meat are you going to cook it? Translation: if you’re given an opportunity are you going to take advantage of it or let it go to waste? I’m not only going to cook it, I’ll make multiple meals out of it! Visit the blog to see my additional submissions. Continue reading Additional photos by Denise Holguin on exhibit at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville!
“Iterations” is my debut art piece that is on exhibit at the MCL Grand through the Visual Art League of Lewisville.
The theme for the exhibit is “Self-Portrait”. Not only was I the photographer but I was also the model. Very tricky – especially when I was turning as green as the walls from sitting upside down!
Go see the art piece in person! It’s on exhibit from August 31 – October 30, 2021. Look for the North Display Case. Continue reading “Iterations” an original art piece by Denise Holguin is on exhibition!

Most people don’t realize this, but I ‘celebrate’ Christmas twice a year: in August and in December. Working for a craft/hobby magazine, the Christmas issue is planned well in advance and is photographed in the summer. It’s always strange to have Christmas trees up in the middle of summer. Weather during this time of year is usually 100 degrees. Not exactly Christmas weather! While I can’t show you any sneak peeks at the projects our photographer shot, I can show you a few behind the scenes shenanigans I shot. Enjoy. You might think it’s odd to take a ventriloquist’s … Continue reading Christmas in August
A coworker recently experienced a house fire. Everyone escaped without injury. My friend and I joined the group of volunteers to help with the Rescue-Retrieval Mission. We helped salvage the few belongings that could be saved— clothes, kitchenware and a … Continue reading House Fire
