One of my favorite places to discover insects, birds and wildlife is the Ft. Worth Nature Center and Refuge. I rediscovered this shot as I was looking for interesting photos to share. I’m fond of the ‘metallic looking armor’.
I did a Google search and it’s a type of scarab beetle. National Geographic has information on this beetle—among the types of scarabs are dung beetles and also those pesky June bugs. Maybe I’ll try photographing those next.
The shot was taken Memorial Day weekend: May 2008.
