Some friends and I were invited to attend the 6th Annual Athens Eggfest last weekend. We paid an entrance fee to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and a Tasting Fee – then we got to eat, eat, and eat!
The participants in the event own Big Green Eggs.
Participants come to the event to cook, share their food with attendees and to have fun with other Big Green Egg owners. Participants cook food throughout the day – changing the menu from breakfast, to lunch and yes… dessert! Absolutely all the food is made in a Big Green Egg. Wow!
At first I was hesitant with the concept of going up to tables and taking food. But that’s what the event was all about! I got over my hesitation the moment I tried my first food sample made by my friends Michelle and Scott. I was hooked.
Here’s a close-up of the Sausage Cups. I could have eaten a half dozen of these delicacies.
We wandered around to other tables. Take a look…
We were the first in line for this meat and it went fast.
Your looking at a Monte Cristo sandwich below – also known as a little taste of heaven. I was so grateful for the very generously sized sample.
Here’s a fun photo showcasing Michelle and Scott’s logo, “Dancing Egg BBQ”. They managed to combine both of their hobbies into the logo!
After the sausage wraps and chili (the chili went so fast I didn’t get a photo!) Scott and Michelle transitioned to dessert.
My friends and I were the first in line to receive the apple pie tarts.
And just in case we didn’t have enough to eat… we found someone making snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies. There were cupcakes too but I wasn’t quick enough to grab one for myself. I consoled myself by having two servings of monkey bread!
Mmmm….snickerdoodles!
So grateful to Scott and Michelle for introducing me to the Eggfest. I can’t wait to attend another event and you should too! Click here to find an Eggfest near you!
