Find Solace in the Little Things

Pilot Point Coffee House Art Exhibition: I have a duck, doll legs and a dog on display!

It’s a mad world when my art is scattered around the metroplex in various art exhibits. I am grateful to have these opportunities that have all originated from a decision to join the Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL). By attending VAL meetings, I met guest speaker, Justine Wollaston Scott, who organizes art exhibits at the Pilot Point Coffee House (among her many talents!)

A selection of my art is on display in Justine’s latest exhibit, “Autumn’s Palette” at the Pilot Point Coffee House, starting September 29th – mid-November. Continue reading Pilot Point Coffee House Art Exhibition: I have a duck, doll legs and a dog on display!

Friendships, connections and opportunities abound when you join an art league. Justine Wollaston was a guest speaker at the Visual Art League of Lewisville a few years ago and from that moment I became a fan and a friend!

Fast forward and she is the curator for art exhibits held throughout the year at the Pilot Point Coffee House (PPCH).  From August 4 – September 18th, you can see a wonderful mix of photographs by talented local artists.  Continue reading Photography Exhibit at the Pilot Point Coffee House!

Inexplicable

Part 2 & 3: “Inexplicable” is made possible by the following people…

A favorite aspect of my art is incorporating objects that people give me.  They become part of the art piece just as much as the component they contributed.  Additionally, people teach me new skills and lend me tools to apply to my art pieces.

This art piece incorporates materials / techniques from 8+ people, a new world record! Continue reading Part 2 & 3: “Inexplicable” is made possible by the following people…

Fresh Ideas 2023 is a juried event through the Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL).  It is the only event that accepts submissions from members AND non-members.  There is no guarantee that you’ll get in as a member.  Every year the number of submissions increases – this year there were over 300 submissions and about 20% made the cut.

My art, “Inexplicable” is one of them! Continue reading “Inexplicable” is on display at the Lewisville Grand Theater, Part 1

Postcards from Summer Camp

Postcards from Summer Camp

This is part of my Remember Me series of art and it is my first triptych. I could not separate the siblings.

Each of the cigar box lids is dedicated to one of three siblings and represents their time at summer camp. The art is on display through the Visual Art League of Allen. Continue reading Postcards from Summer Camp

Little bashful one, make haste and take flight

Little bashful one, make haste and take flight

I just completed a new art piece, “Butterfly wings”.

Artist’s Statement:
Little tentative one, make haste and take flight with your shiny, gilded wings.  While you may damage the wings along your journey you have what it takes to be courageous as a lion yet delicate and beautiful as a rose. Continue reading Little bashful one, make haste and take flight

Last days at the office. Part 1

What is it like to sift through 17 years’ worth of office work? I see success. Failures. Growth. I see naïveté. Optimism.  Battles fought. I see the transition of a fresh-out-of-college graduate in an entry level position doing tasks she disliked to someone who made it to a position that was more suitable. I see routine.  Product life cycles.  Remnants of discontinued products. Countless stacks of articles that have been edited, re-edited and published. Old correspondence. Ghosts of employees past who I have banished from memory.  Names long erased and barely familiar. I see emails outlining new ideas, new packages, … Continue reading Last days at the office. Part 1
