Pilot Point Coffee House - Someone's Memories

Debut of “Someone’s Memories” at the Pilot Point Coffee House

Title: Someone’s memories

Medium: Photograph

Artist’s Statement: This photo represents the iterations of living in the moment. Each iteration becomes part of the past. I remember seeing this building when it was whole, when it fell apart and when it disappeared altogether. It represents the passing of time, the passing of life and fading memories. Continue reading Debut of “Someone’s Memories” at the Pilot Point Coffee House

Photography Exhibit at the Pilot Point Coffee House!

Friendships, connections and opportunities abound when you join an art league. Justine Wollaston was a guest speaker at the Visual Art League of Lewisville a few years ago and from that moment I became a fan and a friend!

Fast forward and she is the curator for art exhibits held throughout the year at the Pilot Point Coffee House (PPCH).  From August 4 – September 18th, you can see a wonderful mix of photographs by talented local artists.  Continue reading Photography Exhibit at the Pilot Point Coffee House!

Inexplicable

“Inexplicable” is on display at the Lewisville Grand Theater, Part 1

Fresh Ideas 2023 is a juried event through the Visual Art League of Lewisville (VAL).  It is the only event that accepts submissions from members AND non-members.  There is no guarantee that you’ll get in as a member.  Every year the number of submissions increases – this year there were over 300 submissions and about 20% made the cut.

My art, “Inexplicable” is one of them! Continue reading “Inexplicable” is on display at the Lewisville Grand Theater, Part 1

This is part of my Remember Me series of art and it is my first triptych. I could not separate the siblings.

Out of the Ashes

Out of the Ashes

Out of the Ashes is currently on display at the Lewisville Grand Theater.

The random objects are a connection to people and moments in time that led to this piece. My role was to see the possibility and to be open to the creative process.

The creative process had disastrous moments but I kept moving forward until the piece came out of ashes. Continue reading Out of the Ashes

My art is on display at the Pilot Point Coffee House! Part 1 of 2

I love historic downtowns!  And when my friend, Justine Wollaston, invited me to display art in the historic downtown of Pilot Point, Texas, I jumped at the chance.

Read the blog to learn about my three art pieces on display. They feature machine embroidery, wood, decoupage, “rondells” and more! Continue reading My art is on display at the Pilot Point Coffee House! Part 1 of 2

It all started with “I have an idea….”

On a recent Saturday night, I was in my dining room (it doubles as my art studio) using a power drill on what looks like a million found objects from my lawn.  I would pause periodically and look down at the powdery, sawdust mess I was creating on my floor, table and clothing.

What am I doing?  Why am I doing this?  Have I lost my mind?

I didn’t bother answering the questions.  Instead, I continued my art project with ardent determination.  But I did decide it would be interesting to interview my artist friends.

That is how this new series was born! Continue reading It all started with “I have an idea….”

Self-Portrait with Black Necklace and Butterfly

Art Exhibit: Dia de los muertos / Frida Kahlo / Self-Portrait with Black Necklace and Butterfly

I have a new art piece on display in the Dia de Los Muertos exhibit through the Visual Art League of Lewisville. The task was to submit a piece of art directly inspired by a Mexican or Latin American painter. That is a tall order that I took seriously….
