Unit 8 at the LBJ National Grasslands

My friend and I were trying to enter Unit 9 at the Grasslands but couldn’t find a gate.  But we did find the entrance to Unit 8 nearby…

Here’s a view of Unit 8.  As you can see it’s a big open space where you are absolutely free to roam about and make your own trail.  This area is free of poison ivy and was quite clean.  No need for Litter Patrol this time.  There is no shade in this area, however.

Here’s a photo of one of the locals.  I wasn’t as close as the photo suggests – my camera takes very good photos that make it easy to zoom and crop.

Camera:  Rockalita Sunshine (Canon EOS 5D Mark IV)
Lens:
My beloved 100 mm macro lens (Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L macro IS)
Notes:  One of my goals is to visit every unit at the Grasslands.  (There are 70+ units).  Each unit is different in its own way.  Some areas have pine trees… others have cacti.  Every unit is a new adventure.
