Birthday Frogs

A friend asked what I did on my birthday.  Aside from Litter Patrol at the LBJ National Grasslands (a strange but satisfying activity) – I chased frogs around a pond (another strange but satisfying activity).  The game is simple.  I walk around the pond and listen for the frogs squeak as they jump in to the water.  Since it was my birthday, the frogs indulged me.  I got to circle the pond multiple times.  They kept jumping in and out – presumably for my entertainment.  Simple joys.

Do you see the frog in the photo below?

Here’s a closer look.  Not the best shot, but I only travel with my macro lens.  It could be my active imagination but he looks like Michigan J. Frog from cartoons.  Any minute he’s going to put on a top hat, sing and dance.  In my cartoon, it would be a Lindy Hop, of course.

Here’s a smaller frog.

The next three photos are the same frog.  First the frog was in the water.  It noticed me as I approached…

Then the frog jumped out of the water – still looking at me.

Last, it jumped back in… still keeping an eye on me.
