Subtitle: Finding Miss Macy

I started scouting dying department stores in February 2025. I realized with my first model, Miss Ethel Gladys Antoinette Dubois busy at her modeling gigs, I’d need more models.

Macy’s Department store in Fairview was closing. Tore and I had to make multiple trips because it takes time for the mannequins to be available for purchase. And when they were it was a frenzy of excitement (at least for me).

Where to begin? There were so many mannequins to choose from! I walked the “runway” examining the mannequins, trying to imagine them wearing my creations. That’s when I spotted her…. Miss Macy. She carried herself with confidence – I loved her hand on her hip and her built-in “shoes.” Yes, she’s the one for me.

How does one cart away a mannequin? Very carefully and with help from a Macy’s department store employee. I do love the spectacle of seeing my mannequin heading to her new adventure! I imagine customers thinking I’m purchasing the mannequin for a clothing store. No friends, I am a zany artist.
