A Collection of Moments
A Collaborative artwork by Denise Holguin and Crystal Nelson for Art on Main

Life is a collection of moments woven together to tell a story.  The same is true with this artwork.  The artwork was inspired by the colors in a teacup recently given to me by my friend Sharon and her husband Paul Haltom.  I passed the artwork and the teacup on to Crystal Nelson, who used her well-honed skills to add her artistic elements. 

When I received the artwork back, I leaned on my experience of using the sewing machine to add texture and interest. 

I’m particularly fond of observing the journey of people, objects and experiences over time.  A variety of events transpired over a period of years for just the right moment of convergence to happen.  Then the spark of creativity was ignited, and the artwork was created.

The tulle hangs beyond the artwork and the frame, symbolizing the idea that Crystal and I expressed our individual styles while also finding a way to work together.  The outcome of our synergistic creativity cannot be constrained by the paper or the frame.
